Self Reflection
I chose to put this career journal here because this is a career that I am interested in. From what I researched there are job openings in Pennsylvania. I think this would would be an interesting job because using evidence to figure out how its connected to a crime seems like a fun challenge. Each crime would be different so it would be a nice change from time to time. Principles of biomedical sciences is a class that is basically using evidence almost every day to find out what happened to Anna Garcia, so it would be fun to do a real life crime. There are many skills including food testing and gel electrophoresis that can help when being a DNA analyst.
Education/Training
- minimum requirement- bachelors degree (related to molecular biology, genetics or forensic sciences)
- most require mandatory laboratory hours
- strong communication skills (verbal and writing)
Responsibility/ Daily Activity
- Most time is spent in lab cataloging and analyzing DNA evidence
- May appear in court
- Routine maintenance and quality control checks (in lab)
- Must be very detailed with evidence analysis for the court

Self Reflection
I have always wanted to be a coroner ever since I started watching tv shows that had to deal with forensics and such. l included this career journal on this portfolio because it was another career that I'm interesting in and have knowledge in already. In this class we've tested stomach contents which is something a coroner might do to find out cause of death. There is usually one coroner per town so it would be a little difficult depending on where you live. Overall, this job would be so interesting to me because the job would be different each body because of different causes of death.
Education/ Training
- Knowledge in biology, laws, and government, psychology, medicine and dentistry
- Critical thinking, reading comprehension, active listening, and using scientific rules and methods to solve problems
Responsibility/ Daily Activity
- Cause, manner, and circumstance of human death
- Observe and record positions and conditions of bodies
- Perform medico logical examinations and autopsies
- Collect and document any medical history
